Charles Michael Brotman…

… graduated from the University of Hawaii with a M.A. in music, and began working as a composer/producer in the advertising world. At the same time Brotman ventured into the artist world, with his first two solo albums receiving critical acclaim and heavy rotation in radio across the United States. Eventually moving to Kamuela on Hawaii Island, he built Lava Tracks Recording Studio (designed by award-winning Pelonis Sound & Acoustics) and launched Palm Records with his business partner and sister, Jody Brotman. Palm Records specializes in recordings of acoustic island music, and its catalogue includes a dozen albums for Charles’ acoustic guitar trio “Kohala”. Charles has also developed a catalogue of music that spans rock, pop, and singer-songwriter genres with his side project band “Barrel Thieves”. His music has garnered Grammy nominations, #1 on Billboard charts, a Grammy award, and many local music awards. His music has appeared on hundreds of TV shows, movies, CDs, and commercials. In addition to his current production schedule, Charles is the director of Hawaii’s Creative Labs Music Immersive, and he is the president of the Hawaii Songwriting Festival. He has served multiple terms on the Board of Governors and continues to do volunteer committee work for the Recording Academy.
